What is the Social Security Death Index?
The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) allows you to search for an individual to determine whether or not he or she has passed away. You are able to search by name, or by Social Security Number.

No Results Found?
Records are input into the SSDI in different ways. If you receive a no results found message, try changing one or more of the following:
- Remove the first name
- Remove the middle inital
- Search by SSN
- Choose other states in which the individual may have lived.
